A commonly heard comment on RAF Bradwell Bay is that it was a ‘Mosquito’ Station, this, while understandable, is in fact not quite true. While the Mosquito was the most prevalent aircraft flown from RAF Bradwell Bay, it was not the first, and in fact many different types were flown from Bradwell. This was both combat and non-combat aircraft.
If an example of aircraft, both based and visiting, were at RAF Bradwell Bay now, it would be an aircraft spotter’s paradise!
This ranges from the General Aircraft GAL.42 Cygnet to the USAF B17 Flying fortress.
